Marvel's Stan Lee accounted for Superman's popularity, saying ''Most every guy wishes he could be more than he is. Who wouldn't love to fly? Who wouldn't love to be bulletproof? And X-ray eyes! I won't even get into that.''
The initials L. L. feature very prominently in Superman's life. Lana Lang was his boyhood girlfriend, Lois Lane is the love of his life, Lyla Lerrol was a super-hottie Kryptonian that he almost married, and of course, Lex Luthor is his worst enemy. There are more, but I'll save that for a future trivia question!
That magical imp who is always bothering The Man of Steel is Mr. Mxyztplk, and he first appeared in Superman (1st series) #30. It is now spelled as Mr. Mxyzptlk. Since it is the third most asked pronunciation question in comics, so we'll give to you here:
Mister Mix-Yez-Pit-L-Ick.
The Jonathon, Martha, and Clark Kent lived on a ten acre farm in Smallville. She inherited it from her first husband, who had passed away.
Superman was mentioned, or appeared, on nearly every episode of TV's Sienfeld.
Clark Kent's favorite meal is Beef Bourguignon (with ketchup)
On the black and white Superman TV show, the Superman costume was actually brown!
Clark Kent met mermaid Lori Lemaris while a senior at Metropolis University. It's a long story, by the fell in love and almost got married!
Kryptonite first appeared in the Adventures of Superman radio series!
Superman is constantly moving his head, at super-speed, so any pictures taken will be a little blurry, protecting his secret I.D.
When Superman started out in the comics, he could only leap, not fly. (about 1/8 mile)
Kal-El is Superman's Kryptonian Name. His parents were Jor-El and Lara.
Unless stated otherwise, Superman is always 29 years old in any given story.
Editor's (now age 40+) note: That is probably his greatest power!
His middle name has been listed both as "Joseph" and "Jerome", obviously tributes to his creator(s).
Clark and Superman part their hair parted on opposite sides, but the big difference is the forhead lock Superman has.
Superman is one of the most recognized characters in fiction. In April 2000, he Got Milk.

Kryptonite and the effects
Blue
Blue K effects only Bizarro creatures, pretty much the same way green effects Superman.
Gold
Gold K would take away Superman's powers forever, if he was exposed to it.
Green
Causes a quick loss of strength and eventual death for any Kryptonian.
Red
Effects Kryptonians in varied, temporary ways. Perhaps growing wings, or turning into a turtle. It always seems, somehow, to help any given situation.
White
Kills any type of plant life.
